How much does it cost to swim at Madrid's public swimming pools?

Madrid City Council opened the public swimming pool season on 15 May, coinciding with San Isidro. The season runs until 7 September, with three sessions: morning, afternoon and all-day. Here are the prices per session:

  • Morning or afternoon sessions:
    • Under 5s: Free
    • Children (5–14 years): €1.35
    • Young people (15–26 years): €1.80
    • Adults (27–64 years): €2.25
    • Seniors (65+): €0.70
  • All-day sessions:
    • Under 5s: Free
    • Children (5–14 years): €2.70
    • Young people (15–26 years): €3.60
    • Adults (27–64 years): €4.50
    • Seniors (65+): €1.35

How to pay for swimming pool admissions in Madrid?

Tickets for Madrid’s public swimming pools can be bought easily via the Madrid Móvil app or the official City Council Sports website. Credit cards are accepted, and Bizum payments will be available from July 2025.

Once purchased, simply show the QR code on your phone; no printing necessary. Any eligible discounts are automatically applied when your ticket is validated.

Casa de Campo

Part of a large outdoor sports complex, it offers multiple pools, extensive green spaces and chill-out areas. Easily accessible via Begoña metro station, it’s a perfect choice for families and young people alike.

Cerro Almodóvar (Villa de Vallecas)

The public pool at Cerro Almodóvar Sports Centre in Villa de Vallecas features three outdoor pools, a 50 x 21 m pool, a leisure pool and a children’s pool, along with changing rooms, sandy beach areas and spacious green zones. It offers various sports activities, including summer camps and swimming lessons for children. The centre is accessible via the Santa Eugenia suburban train station.

Aluche (Latina)

Located in the Latina district, the Aluche public swimming pool is among the largest and busiest in southwest Madrid. It boasts a pleasant, natural setting with expansive lawns, multiple pools and sports facilities. Known for its family-friendly atmosphere and excellent accessibility by both public transport and car, it can be reached via the C5 commuter line at Maestra Justa Freire station.

Moratalaz

The Moratalaz public swimming pool, situated next to Arroyo Fontarrón Park in Pavones, is one of eastern Madrid’s most complete facilities. It has four pools of different sizes and depths, suitable for both leisure swimming and lessons. The centre also features spacious green areas, a café and shaded spots. The summer pool has recently been refurbished with laminated stainless steel wall panels.

Hortaleza

Renowned for its excellent facilities and family-friendly atmosphere, the Hortaleza public swimming pool is a top choice in the district. Located north of Hortaleza, the complex features spacious green areas, an Olympic-sized pool for serious swimmers and a dedicated children’s area. It is best accessed via Madrid Metro Line 4, alighting at Hortaleza station.

La Elipa (Moratalaz)

In the Moratalaz district, La Elipa public swimming pool is one of Madrid’s best. Conveniently located near residential areas and well connected by public transport, it boasts a 50 x 21 metre pool, an 825 square metre outdoor pool and a children’s pool, perfect for cooling off in Moratalaz.

Don Quixote (Moncloa)

Located in the heart of Moncloa, El Quijote (formerly Francos Rodríguez) features a 36 x 20 metre recreational pool and a children’s pool. Renovated in 2024, the complex also offers a gym and paddle tennis courts. It’s easily accessible via Metro Line 7 at Francos Rodríguez station.

Puerta de Hierro (Moncloa-Aravaca)

Though not a municipal pool, Puerta de Hierro is managed by the Community of Madrid and charges €5 for daily admission. It is the largest outdoor swimming complex in the region and among the biggest in Spain. The site features multiple pools, including a historic main pool and children’s pools, extensive green areas, showers, changing rooms, and a snack bar. It is open continuously during summer from 11:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Paseo de la Dirección (Tetuán)

The municipal pool at Paseo de la Dirección Municipal Sports Centre is the district’s first summer facility in over 30 years. Opened in 2024, it features a 25 x 25 m main pool and a 7 m diameter children’s pool, along with changing rooms, lockers, first-aid facilities, and spacious lounge areas. Located in the Berruguete neighbourhood, it has a capacity for 250 people.
