Bioparc on the Costa del Sol in Andalusia is a new type of zoo focussed on conservation

Bioparc is a Spanish zoo-ecological park located in Fuengirola, Malaga on the Andalusian Costa del Sol. It’s not just any old zoo, though, since it’s based on a new kind of model that tries to recreate the habitat of the animals as much as possible. Respect for nature is paramount and their main objective is conservation and the preservation of species.

A knew kind of zoo

Bioparc Fuengirola is a very special animal park which functions according to a concept called zoo-immersion. All types of animals live together in its paddocks, but in Bioparc the origin of each species is taken into account when it comes to faithfully reproducing its ecosystem. This way, the visitor will travel to Africa, Asia and Madagascar without ever leaving the Costa del Sol.

The entire park has been designed in this way, which is why taking a walk around it is so special. Authentic plants and other ecological elements from remote regions are present in different parts of the park, depending on the animal and its place of origin.

Bioparc opened its doors to the public in the 1970s, although then it was a small site with inadequate facilities. From the nineties onwards, the place has been consistently transformed and improved until it has become the current zoo-immersion, known throughout Spain for its quality experience for both visitors and the animals themselves.

Bioparc opening times

Bioparc is open daily from 10:00a.m. onwards. Closing times are subject to change depending on the month and the day of the week.
