"This is a fine example of the Gothic-Mudejar style, with a single nave and a polygonal apse, covered by a perfectly preserved original coffered ceiling," explains Pilar Aparicio, director of Engel & Völkers Seville. The church's main altar is an 18th-century Baroque masterpiece by Tomás Guisado, profusely decorated with carvings, gilding and a wealth of iconography.

A historic, cinematic building

In 1510, the papal bull of Julius II granted the licence to found the convent in Carmona (Seville). Although it initially belonged to the order of the Third Order of Saint Francis, in 1516, it became a Conceptionist convent and was linked to Saint Beatriz de Silva's daughters.

The works would continue during the first decades of the 16th century, and the church was blessed in 1543. Over the centuries, the convent underwent several architectural and artistic transformations that reflect the influences of different historical periods.

The convent's incredible beauty and representativeness led it to be chosen for the filming of the adaptation of Arturo Pérez Reverte's book, The Seville Communion, written in 1995 by the author from Murcia and made into a film in 2022 (The Man from Rome) by Sergio Dow, starring Richard Armitage, Amaia Salamanca, Carlos Cuevas, Rodolfo Sancho and Alicia Borrachero, among others.
