Expat workers, those whose companies send them to work abroad, have once again put Valencia at the top of the list of the best countries to work in, according to the survey by the InterNations platform. The results are based on 12,000 responses from 181 different cities, while the top 3 cities represent 3 very different cities on 3 continents with contrasting characteristics. The Spanish city stands out for its safety, quality of life and liveability, although it lacks when it comes to job opportunities in the area. It is followed by Dubai, ideal for finding work, and Mexico City, which despite its insecurity rate, is ideal for when it comes to living somewhere friendly and affordable. We have all the details about how Valencia is once again the world's best city to live in for foreign workers

Health, safety, climate, work-life balance and access to housing are the top priorities for foreign and expat workers. The Spanish city of Valencia stands out for the ease of settling in the city, and for the sensation of "feeling at home" for foreign workers. They are also happy with the city's social life and sporting opportunities and value the affordability of public transport. In addition, 92% of expats feel safe in the city, compared to a global average of 81%, and it is one of the most valued places for maintaining personal finances.

The emirate city of Dubai stands out above all for its job opportunities for expats, who note that the local business culture encourages creativity. In addition, they feel comfortable with the local authorities, and are satisfied with their social life. They also have a high quality of life, although they would like to have more access to online services.

Rounding out the top 3, Mexico City is the easiest city to live in among the cities surveyed. Above all, expat worker highlight the warm welcome given by local residents. Of the top three, it is the city with the best ability to achieve good personal finances, as they are very satisfied with their financial situation, good salary and affordable prices, especially for housing.

Although the city is in the middle of the pack in terms of overseas workers, they are happy with their current job and the job opportunities in the capital. Housing is easy to find and affordable, but Mexico City loses quality in administrative issues, and in the Quality of Life index, where it falls to the bottom in environment and climate, safety and security.

Also in the InterNations Expat City 2022 ranking are Lisbon (4th), for its incredible climate and quality of life, but with mediocre job options, and Madrid (5th), with great leisure activities, and a welcoming culture. Behind them, Bangkok came in sixth place thanks to its low cost of living, while work-life balance gave eighth place to Melbourne and Singapore (10th).

In the UK, London fell to 40th place, alongside other major European economic capitals such as Paris (48th) and Frankfurt (49th), where the inability to access affordable housing, with all that affects personal finances, stands out. At the bottom of the list is Johannesburg, where the lack of housing affordability is combined with citizen insecurity.
