Fifty-six per cent of Spaniards are afraid of losing their job – the highest percentage in Europe – 19 percentage points above the study's average (37%), carried out by Randstad. Only workers in India (70%), Mexico (61%), Argentina and Brazil (both with 60%) have a greater fear of losing their job than in Spain. Neighbouring countries such as Italy (34%), the United Kingdom (28%) and France (24%) are significantly lower.

Spanish workers are also pessimistic about the chances of quickly finding another job if they were to lose their current employment. Only 43% are confident they would find a job promptly, seven percentage points below the average and only above Italy (37%) at the international level. Workers in the Netherlands (58%), the United States (56%), Germany (52%) and the United Kingdom (47%) are more optimistic.

Spaniards are also the Europeans most concerned that the current economic uncertainty will affect their employment. This is the opinion of 73% of the workers surveyed, 19 percentage points above the study average and only beaten, worldwide, by India (80%), Mexico (77%) and Argentina (75%). In Europe, 41% of French workers, 40% of Germans and a third of Dutch are worried about this situation.
