Marbella City Council has approved three urban development projects – located in Río Real and San Pedro Alcántara – that will deliver 1,306 new homes. Councillor for Urban Planning José Eduardo Díaz confirmed that the schemes will attract private investment of €25 million. The council added that a further 14 urban development projects are currently under way across the city.

Spain ranks among the countries with the highest life expectancy in the world. Lithuanian investment management company Reverest Fund Management has announced its first project in Spain. It is a luxury residential complex of 54 flats to be built on the Costa del Sol, in La Cala de Mijas (Málaga), where it plans to invest €40 million.

Spain has the highest share of flat dwellers in the EU. In 2024, 65.3% of its population lived in multi-family homes, compared with 34.7% in single-family houses, according to Eurostat.

The Parador de Ibiza – the state-owned chain’s first property in the Balearic Islands – has opened its doors. Housed in the restored Castle and Almudaina complex in Dalt Vila, the project began in 2009 and required an investment of €47 million. Spain ranks first in the EU for young people working outside their field of study. According to Eurostat, 28.9% of under-34s are employed in roles unrelated to their qualifications – the highest share in the EU. This figure is well above the EU average of 20.4%, a gap of more than eight percentage points, highlighting a growing mismatch between education and the labour market.
