Sectors driving Spain’s billionaire wealth in 2025

Spain’s billionaire tier is still led by fashion and retail, with Inditex setting the pace at the top. Infrastructure concessions, supermarkets, banking, and tourism round out the mix.

Within that mix, Ferrovial’s surge has lifted Rafael and María del Pino, while ACS underpins Florentino Pérez’s rise through steady concession and contracting income. Mercadona’s profit growth, staff profit‑sharing and wage increases support gains for Juan Roig and Hortensia Herrero.

Abanca’s strength and Juan Carlos Escotet’s diversified portfolio drove one of the year’s biggest jumps. Tomás Olivo’s GGC held steady on core valuations, with bank investments improving his position. Iberostar’s family control and robust travel demand helped Miguel Fluxà climb into the top 10.

Methodology in brief: how Forbes builds the ranking

Forbes Spain values listed stakes at current market prices and applies standardised methods to private businesses, then adds cash, investments and real estate attributable to each person.

Year on year, changes reflect movements in market valuations and updates to disclosed holdings.

2025 versus 2024: what’s changed and what’s steady

Currency shifts and share‑price moves in fashion, retail and infrastructure explain most of the changes since the Forbes 2024 rich list.

  • Big risers: Juan Roig (+2.1 bn€), Juan Carlos Escotet (+2.2 bn€), Tomás Olivo (+1.9 bn€ and up six places), Miguel Fluxà (+1.3 bn€ and up seven places), María del Pino (+1.0 bn€).
  • Moves lower: Amancio Ortega (-10.3 bn€) and Sandra Ortega (-0.4 bn€) due to softer Inditex pricing, while both remain firmly in the top tier.
  • Gender snapshot: three women feature in the 2025 top 10 — Sandra Ortega (2), Hortensia Herrero (7), María del Pino (8).

Where Spain’s wealth lives: regional picture

Spain’s biggest fortunes cluster around established business ecosystems. Galicia leads in fashion, retail and banking. Madrid is strong in infrastructure and finance. The Comunitat Valenciana adds retail and logistics scale. The Balearic Islands bring tourism strength, while Murcia contributes commercial real estate.
