The majority of people living in Spain consider that their bathroom can be considerably improved, according to the study “Quiero vivir mejor” (I want to live better) carried out by the magazine Cuida tu Casa. Therefore, it is not surprising that it is, along with the kitchen, one of the most renovated rooms in Spanish homes. It is also one of a few not too expensive but effective ways to increase the value of your property in case you are considering selling it.

The bathroom has undergone an enormous evolution in recent years, going from being a room that was almost embarrassing to show, to an important space that even contributes to the revaluation of a home. That is why we pay more and more attention to concepts such as functionality or design, especially when it comes to toilets or small bathrooms, where every inch counts.

When space is scarce, we inevitably think of reducing the number of elements that make up our bathroom, seeking to achieve a greater sensation of spaciousness. But there are alternative solutions to achieve this effect, beyond the traditional idea of changing the bath for a shower tray.

Invisible cisterns

In this line, embedded cisterns, hidden inside the wall, are a trend which is becomming more and more common. Not only do they create clearer, more decorative and easier to clean environments, but they also offer added advantages such as silent use, considerable water savings and easy access to the interior for maintenance without the need for tools.

Toilets and suspended furniture

Likewise, there are already toilets and furniture suspended on the wall and with little projection, this leaves the floor clear and helps to gain those all important centimetres so coveted in small bathrooms. There are even built-in traps for the washbasins, which will allow extra space under the washbasin. These solutions, in addition to improving the aesthetics of the bathroom by providing a clearer and more contemporary image of the room, also facilitate the cleaning of the floor and the wall and guarantee total stability by supporting - contrary to what one might think - up to 400 kilograms of weight.

You don’t have to renounce the bidet

Likewise, anyone who thinks that because of the limited space, the bidet – such a typical Spanish bathroom element – should be forgotten is very wrong, as there are already 2-in-1 solutions. Thus, the bidet toilet will allow space to be gained by eliminating an element, but without renouncing intimate hygiene with water. A touch of sophistication that will also keep us at the forefront, as there are models that allow you to customise the options (intensity or temperature of the water, for example) through a practical remote control or even from a smartphone.

No obstacles in sight

Likewise, floor-level, unobstructed showers, in addition to being accessible and comfortable, visually provide an enormous sense of spaciousness because they allow for the continuous design of the floor level. These on-site shower solutions are characterised by an attractive design, easy cleaning and a technique that provides high capacity and fast drainage.

It is not necessary to have a huge bathroom to achieve a great result. The key lies in practical solutions that adapt to every millimetre of the space.
