The ON-A studio, from Barcelona, has collaborated on this occasion with the company Energreen Design, specialised in sustainability, energy efficiency and circular economy applied to construction, to create a prefabricated house of modular construction. Green Nest House is a wooden house that blends in with nature and has revolutionised the sustainable real estate market. The construction company in charge of carrying out the project was WES.
The carbon footprint it generates in the environment is four times lower than that of a normal house, as the operation of this house produces 0 CO2 emissions. Moreover, as it blends in with its surroundings, due to its roof covered by cultivated land, it reduces its visual and environmental impact on nature.
The layout comprises a living room, a master bedroom, a guest bedroom, a bathroom, the kitchen and a study. It is designed around an interior courtyard in the centre, to create an open space where natural light enters and can be easily ventilated. The house also has digital infrastructures and acoustic comfort. The interior has three large interconnected areas that follow one after the other, in which the views of the natural surroundings have been maintained at all times.
In terms of materials, 20% of the materials used are recycled, and the other 47% are renewable. All of them are also certified as free of VOCs or formaldehyde. An example of this is the wood used in the walls and furniture, which comes exclusively from sustainable forests.
In addition, it is equipped to recycle 100% of the water for reuse and the use of wood allows the interior temperature to be conserved, reducing energy costs. It also has photovoltaic panels on the upper part of the roof that contribute to the production and consumption of sustainable energy.
Thanks to its integrated Smart Home system, it is possible to control multiple functions such as lighting, air particle sensors or climate and ventilation systems from a mobile phone.
As its creators explain: "All these elements of the green concept take shape in an architecture with a positive impact that maintains unaltered the natural conditions of the environment to become part of it".
The house will be available in three different sizes ranging from 100 to 200 m2.
