What to visit in Malaga

Malaga is a beautiful city in Andalusia, endowed with some wonderful places to visit. The seafront promenade of La Farola, the Plaza de la Merced and the Alameda Principal are some of the most beautiful and emblematic parts of the city.

The Costa del Sol is one of the main tourist destinations in Spain and Malaga has become an ideal holiday destination thanks to its beautiful beaches, temperate climate and golf courses.

Moreover, throughout history several civilizations, including Greeks, Phoenicians, Carthaginians or Romans, have found in Malaga a strategic point of great value for their trade routes.

What should you visit in Malaga? Some of the key symbols of the city are the Alcazaba, and Arabic fortress from the 8th-11th century, the Gibralfaro Castle, the Roman Theatre, the Archaeological Museum, the bullring called La Malagueta and the Cathedral of Malaga known locally as "la manquita" of the 16th-18th century, plus the numerous churches in the old quarter and Pablo Picasso’s house.

What’s the deal with the Malaga Fair 2018?

The Malaga Fair takes place during the month of August, when the city receives many visitors from different corners of Spain and the whole world. Getting to the fairground is easy as there are special bus services which leave from different points such as Benalmádena, Estación de Cártama and Casabermeja.

At night, visitors can enjoy typical stands and fairground attractions like rides and games, along with food and drink, of course. These fairground booths also put on dances with music of different styles, typically flamenco, Spanish pop music and reggaetón.

As for the theme park rides, they are located in a specially prepared area where you can buy different items at the stalls and taste typical products, such as the fried, sugary dough balls that they call buñuelos.

The August Fair, as it is also known, is held during the day as well as at night and tourists can continue dancing, drinking and eating in the city centre. That’s not all, though, because the streets of Malaga all get beautifully decorated and visitors can have an unforgettable experience celebrating various events and shows.

There are those who prefer the fair by day and those prefer it by night, but will you be one of those who’s ready to visit both with their batteries fully charged? Go for it at the Malaga Carnival this August!
