260 hotels will open in Spain this year and 22% will be high-end

The real estate consultancy estimates that throughout 2024, 260 new hotels and nearly 26,000 rooms will hit the market, and states that one in every five openings will correspond to high-end establishments. Furthermore, estimates show that about half will be concentrated in Malaga, Madrid, Valencia and the Canary Islands.

The German chain The Flag gives a twist to its luxury hotel on the Costa del Sol and launches its first 'wellness' accommodation concept in Spain. The four-storey hotel has 78 rooms, some of which are up to 70 m2 with a terrace and sea views, and offers several professional wellness programmes, and beauty and health treatments. The company operates in several countries, including Germany, Switzerland and the US, and has 19 properties with more than 2,500 apartments.

Riu attacks government for ordering Fuerteventura hotel demolition

The Mallorcan hotel lashes out against the Ministry of Ecological Transition for deciding to expire the Oliva Beach hotel's concession in Fuerteventura to occupy and use of a public maritime-terrestrial domain and order its demolition. The company states it is an "arbitrary and unjustified" action and confirms it will defend its legitimate rights against what it considers "a hostile strategy by this central government department." It also warns of the potential economic and social damage that the closure would cause for the island, affirming that it has the support of local social agents.

The American luxury hotel chain Nobu Hotels, owned by actor Robert de Niro, film producer Meir Teper and Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa, will open the Nobu Sevilla Hotel in the heart of the Spanish city of Seville in spring this year.
